Invitation To My Show At The Seminole Nation Museum

Nearly a year's worth of work is about to come to an end on March 3 as we welcome guests to my show at The Seminole Nation Museum in Wewoka, OK. The past months have been exciting and stressful. The prospect of a show is always exciting but the stress level excellerated when I realized the number of paintings needed. It all seemed like a good idea last April as I lay in bed recovering from a level two concussion! We made two trips to Wewoka to shoot reference photos and I must say that the paintings that I created from those photos turned out very well.

Many thanks to Executive Director, Richard Ellwanger, for his faith in me and for his encouragement throughout the last few months and for securing a grant from the Oklahoma Art's Council to finance the show.

I hope you will consider coming to the reception.

Barking Waters in Winter

Some paintings take a little more out of you than others. I took the reference photo for this January, 2012 after I had climbed up and over a railroad trestle, across rocks strewn over water only to climb another embankment to view the creek that gives Wewoka, Oklahoma its name.

Even in winter with low water you can hear the sound of the water tumbling over the rocks. The Seminoles called this area wewoka or barking waters in the English tongue. This painting, which is SOLD, will be on display in the Seminole Nation Museum in March and April of this year.

Wisey's Hands

Wisey is a wonderful Seminole woman who is known for her kindness and her weaving. I shot the reference of her weaving this fall in Wewoka. This painting will appear in the Seminole Nation Museum in March and April of 2012.

Happy Trails
