This painting has found a home. I entered it in the silent auction to benefit our new Red Palette Art Center. What a night our Grand Opening was. Literally hundreds of people showed up to see our art, drink our wine and enjoy themselves! We had old town Humble, TX rocking!
This small (6 x 8) painting will be part of a silent auction to benefit Red Palette Art Center in Humble, TX.
The silent auction is Friday, July 23 from 5 to 8. If you are close by, we would love to see you at our Grand Opening!
I found this lantern when searching through my friend Dena's house for
still life subjects. It seemed a perfect compliment to the blue bottle
and of course, wild flowers from her ranch. This is last painting that I did during Qiang Huang's workshop. Once again I used a Raymar panel.
I started this painting in a workshop with Qiang Huang at the Bunkhouse (http://www.wenmohsranch.com) in May of this year. Pthalo Blue proved to be a challenge to paint with. I don't normally use it and now I know why. It is very strong and can get out of control quickly. The wildflowers were abundant on the ranch and found their way into each of the still lifes that I painted during the workshop.
We took a trip to Oklahoma in June for my husband's high school reunion. He played while I got to roam the Jameson Ranch and paint. Good days for both of us.
This painting is my studio finish of the plein air work that I started there. The son-in-law's grandfather had this bell on his place for years so when the gate to the new outdoor living area was being built it seems logical to use it here. The challenges of painting outside included my paint overheating and sliding around all over the place even though I was standing in the shade!
The shade was why I chose this view. An umbrella for my plein air setup is definitely in my future.
